Production: White Squares in QuarkXPress

I'm getting a small white square on my EPS file when I "get picture" and place it on a layer set to none in Quark. I thought I was doing everything correctly, but I can't get that white portion to disappear.

Yep, in Illustrator 9, the standard EPS preview leaves a white background behind everything, even when the Quark (or PageMaker) placement box background is set to "none". Fortunately, the solution is easy.

When you save an EPS file from Illustrator, choose "TIFF (8-bit Color)" as the Preview Format, and make sure "Transparent" is checked.

Then update the placement in Quark (or Pagemaker), and the white background will disappear.
